Meet The Founder

Guidance & Healing With Horses

I am Shari Lea Schmidt, but around the ranch they just call me “HAY” Lady. I am a wife to a very hardworking, cattle hauling cowboy. Proud mom to two phenomenal men, a Grammie to the three beautiful granddaughters who are the love of my life. I am also a “GREAT” Aunt to twelve awesome nieces and nephews.

It is no secret to anyone that I am and have always been horse crazy!! I grew up on a cattle ranch and it just so happened that my favourite Aunt bred and raised Quarter Horses. Auntie Patty introduced me to my very first horse and I have been a goner ever since. Sure, I rode growing up, I mean of course, I was raised on a cattle ranch, but my absolute favourite time with the horses was just being quiet in their presence. They always made me feel so safe, at ease, loved, even worthy. I never knew then that I would come to rely on them for their wisdom, guidance and healing to become the woman I am today.

Throughout all these courses, which by the way I thought I was taking to help the horses, it was actually my healing journey. Physically, Mentally, Emotionally, and Spiritually.

That’s when I found Equine Connection, I obtained my facilitator’s certification, found my passion and my life purpose. My dream and my wish are to provide for others the opportunity to experience the wisdom and healing the horses have to offer. I am very focused on our at-risk Youth, Women, and Men and their families to provide the tools that I wished I had growing up and throughout my life.
